Foomann

Foomann Architects is a Melbourne-based design practice established in 2008 by Jo and Jamie.

Foomann has completed projects across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including renovations, new homes, hospitality venues and schools. We provide the full scope of architectural services, including town planning, interior design and furnishing, builder selection, and involvement throughout construction. We manage the entire process.

We bring the same rigour to every project, regardless of scale, and embrace constraints as opportunities for creative solutions. To help clients assess feasibility, we have developed a system that establishes a realistic budget based on the project brief and site parameters.

Our projects are designed to be sustainable, with excellent thermal comfort and long-term durability, including the sensitive upgrading of period homes to modern standards. Drawing on our certified Passive House expertise, we achieve these outcomes through a verified framework. The result is a high-performing home that is quiet, comfortable year-round, cheaper to run and built to last.

At Foomann, we make the process of designing and building homes a rewarding experience. We work collaboratively with our clients, who engage with their project through a private portal that stores all communication, renders, drawings and a shared mood board. Our systems help ensure the experience is organised, transparent and enjoyable.

Jo Foong, Director    ○○○●
Jo is a certified Passive House Designer, an Examiner for the Architects Registration Board of Victoria (ARBV) and the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA), and School Council President at Auburn Primary School.

Jamie Sormann, Director    ○●○○
Jamie is a Design tutor at The University of Melbourne, a member of the Australian Institute of Architects and former chair of the Board of Directors at ArchiTeam.

Daryl Neff, Architect    ●○○○
Daryl has been with Foomann since 2022. She holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from Monash University, and is a registered architect.

Tristan Bergmoser, Architect    ○○●○
Tristan has been with Foomann since 2023. He holds a Master of Architecture from Monash University and Hochschule Anhalt in Dessau, Germany, and is a registered architect.
